By default, speech recognition runs entirely on your Mac. Audio and transcripts are not sent to us or to anyone else. Models are downloaded once from public model hosts and then run offline.
If you turn on a cloud transcription engine or AI Polish and enter your own API key, the audio (for transcription) or the transcript text (for Polish) is sent directly from your Mac to the provider you chose, such as OpenAI or another OpenAI-compatible service. It does not pass through our servers. That provider's privacy policy applies. Both features are off by default.
An optional setting can save recordings on your Mac to improve your own experience. It is off by default and the files never leave your Mac.
When you activate a license, the app sends the license key and a device name to our license server, which checks it with our payment provider (Merchant of Record). This is needed to enforce the one-Mac license. Your purchase email and payment details are held by the payment provider, not by us.
The app checks sorimac.com for updates (Sparkle). This request includes the app version and macOS version.
sorimac.com uses Google Analytics/Ads tags to measure visits and ad conversions, and counts downloads by country. We do not sell personal data.
If you email us, we keep the conversation to help you. Ask us to delete it at any time.
