We make Sorimac, so read us as an interested party. Slack facts below come from its official pages, checked .
Because Return sends a message in Slack, Auto Return means each finished sentence goes out. Sorimac waits until it is no longer transcribing and nothing new has been typed, but a half-finished thought can still be sent. A two or three second delay gives you time to keep talking.
Add apps you never want dictation in to Excluded Apps. While one of them is in front, Sorimac stops typing and the menu bar shows that dictation is paused.
In an office or on a call, Always On may pick up what you say to others. Push-to-Talk types only while you hold the key you chose.
Sorimac pastes via the clipboard and puts your previous text back about a second later. Only text is restored, and clipboard managers will usually record each dictation.
Slack's help center describes audio and video clips up to five minutes long. Clips are not transcribed automatically; you can select Generate transcript after sharing. Huddles can have AI notes and a transcript in a canvas. We did not find a Slack feature that types speech into the message field on desktop.
Clips suit a longer update people can listen to. Sorimac suits replies people will read and search, written as text before anyone sees them.

Slack's help pages describe voice clips with optional transcripts, not dictation into the message box. On a Mac, use macOS Dictation or an app like Sorimac for typed messages.
Only if Auto Return is on, which is the default with a one second delay. Set it to Off or a longer delay in settings.
Speech recognition runs on the Mac. Only the text you dictate goes into Slack, like typing.
